We will be providing grilled burgers (w/ Vegan option) and hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, chips and beverages (pop, ice tea and bottled water). In addition, we encourage members to bring their favorite potluck side dish or dessert to share which, as always, is optional of course!
Our monthly meeting door opens 6:30 PM followed by a shortened meeting and potluck social from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Please remember all of our monthly meetings are closed to the publicand if you wish to bring someone, you merely need to speak to a board member beforehand. Our 'Hour of Power' will begin right after our mid-meeting break and it will focus on various aspects of self-defense, the demonstration of self-defense techniques and non-lethal products ... all of which should prove to be entertaining at the least. "Somewhere in the suburbs, Isaac has returned from the wars to help take care of his ailing father, only to discover a household in revolt. The insurgent: his mom. Liberated from an oppressive marriage, with Isaac’s newly out transgender sibling as her ally, she’s on a crusade to dismantle the patriarchy. But in Taylor Mac’s sly, subversive comedy, annihilating the past doesn’t always free you from it."

Cassils’s one-time durational performance of Becoming An Image intersects performance, photography, and sculpture. During the performance Cassils unleashes an attack on a 2,000 pound clay block. Illuminated only by the flash of a photographer’s camera, the afterimages are burned into the viewer’s retina, speaking to concerns of unseen violence against gender non-conforming individuals. This performance is part of the artist's solo exhibition The Phantom Revenant at the Bemis Center, opening February 2.
Space is limited to 50 guests. Reservations are required and will open starting Wednesday, January 18 by calling the Bemis Center at 402.341.7130. Becoming An Image was originally conceived as a site-specific work for the ONE Archives in Los Angeles, the oldest active LGBTQ archive in the United States.
On January 21, 2017 thousands will unite in Washington, DC for the Women’s March on Washington. For those who cannot make it to DC, please join us as we march in Omaha!
